Johns Creek

Georgia's 10th largest city where residents have enjoyed a quiet life.

Welcome to Johns Creek

Nature and outdoor activities dominate in this private suburban city

Though it wasn't officially incorporated until 2006, Johns Creek has long been a place where residents have enjoyed a quiet life just a short drive from Atlanta. Known for the home of the prestigious Atlanta Athletic Club, Johns Creek is Georgia's 10th largest city and, with more than 80,000 residents, continues to grow.

Located north of the Chattahoochee River, Johns Creek began as a ferry crossing. It is named after John Rogers, a plantation owner, and friend of President Andrew Jackson. The unincorporated area continued for many years as a rural settlement but began growing in the 1980s with the introduction of the Technology Park at Johns Creek. Most of the city is divided into modern subdivisions, many with swimming, tennis, and clubhouses. A typical home in Johns Creek is a spacious multi-level brick house on a private, generous lot.

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area oversees five areas within Johns Creek. Residents can also choose from a wide range of outdoor sports and activities in the town's many parks. Another popular area is the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, which tells the area's history through the visitor center and farm museum, complete with animal displays.

In addition to nature and the outdoors, Johns Creek offers all the amenities of busy suburban life, including an array of shops, restaurants, and nightlife. Residents can also take advantage of amenities in surrounding suburbs like Alpharetta and Roswell.
