On Oct. 3, roughly 20,000 people came into downtown Milton for Crabapple Fest. The festival had a new temporary stage, more music on the schedule and a bigger Kids Zone. The season that follows will be split up. This November and December, most evenings out in Crabapple are hosted on two lawns that face each other across Heritage Walk, and each has its own operator, calendar and stage plans. The city's tree lighting is the one big December night held somewhere else.
The calendar makes more sense once that layout is clear.
Two lawns now share Heritage Walk
The Green at Crabapple Market was downtown's established outdoor room. Crabapple Market describes it as a landscaped venue across from Milton City Hall, with an open-air stage and hedges around the edge. It rents for private events, usually for $500 to $2,500 plus a refundable deposit, and it also runs its own public calendar. In October, that calendar included a Thursday cornhole league hosted with Olde Blind Dog, comedy, a movie night and a Halloween party.
In August, a second outdoor space opened across the street. The City of Milton announced a new event space at Market District Crabapple, the mixed-use development on the eastern side of Heritage Walk. The space sits at the district's easternmost end, across from Hyde Brewing, and it opened with an All Nashville Roadshow concert. The city's announcement said a permanent stage is planned. It also said an office building and extensive landscaping in the works will act as a buffer between that stage and nearby homes. Appen Media covered the opening as well.
Mayor Peyton Jamison said in the city's release that the space would "create another welcoming place for people to gather, connect and enjoy all that Crabapple has to offer." The holiday season is the first real test of how the two lawns work together.
The food truck nights use both lawns at once
The clearest example of the new layout is Wanderlust Food Truck Fest, the Thursday series the city lists with The Butler Swayne Team as featured sponsor. Each edition puts one group of trucks in the Market District Crabapple parking lot, labeled the "West Side" and the side with live music. A second group sets up on the gravel area behind Crabapple Market, called the "East Side," near the cornhole games on The Green.
The remaining dates, all 4 to 8 p.m., are:
- Thursday, Nov. 12
- Thursday, Dec. 3
- Thursday, Dec. 10
The city's event page says the trucks rotate between editions and that each night should offer more than a dozen options. Two dates fall in the week after Thanksgiving and the week after it, so one festival covers both sides of Heritage Walk three times before mid-December.
The calendar, side by side
Here is how the season lines up by venue. Dates for The Green come from Crabapple Market's event listing, and city events come from the City of Milton's annual events pages.

Saturday, Nov. 7 shows how the city and the lawns now share a single day. The Veterans Day Breakfast is inside City Hall that morning. Seating is limited and the city asks guests to RSVP. Grace on The Green runs that evening across the street. The Pancake Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 12 is the one date on the list outside the historic core. It's held at the fire station on Highway 9.
The Green's biggest November afternoon
The Holiday Market Shop, Sip & Stroll on Friday, Nov. 13 has the longest list of offerings on The Green's holiday calendar. Crabapple Market organizes it, and Mathnasium of Crabapple & North Alpharetta and Chick-fil-A at Avalon are listed as presenting community partners. According to the event listing, the afternoon brings:
- 75 local makers selling handmade goods
- live music
- free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus
- adoptable pets from FurKids
- children's activities from Mathnasium
- food and drink from Chick-fil-A, Tres Lunas and Olde Blind Dog
The market runs 1 to 5 p.m., and the listing maps it to Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub at 12650 Crabapple Road. The shops around The Green fill out the gift list. Crabapple Market's shopping directory includes Poe & Company Bookstore, Indigo Home & Design, The Twisted Thread, Ameline Shoppe, Whitetail Bicycles and Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming. It also lists Metamorphosis Fine Arts & Crafts Gallery at 1870 Heritage Walk and labels it "NOW OPEN."
Dec. 5 stays at Broadwell Pavilion
Both lawns are busy, but the city keeps its biggest holiday night at its own venue. Christmas in Crabapple is Saturday, Dec. 5, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Broadwell Pavilion, 12615 Broadwell Road. The schedule includes face painting, a DJ, live singers including Milton High's chorus, a balloon artist, ornament and cookie decorating, and letters to Santa.
Santa photos need no reservation, and the city's event page says its professional photographer's pictures are shared free. The tree lighting is at dusk, with holiday singalongs led by local musicians. This free, family-oriented afternoon is run by the city, and it gives the season one fixed date between two Thursday food truck nights.
The ice rink is Market District's winter plan
The biggest seasonal change is still in progress. When the Market District space opened in August, the city said the developer was considering an outdoor skating rink starting in November. On Oct. 27, Market District Crabapple took the next step. It said The Ice Rink at Market District "is coming to Crabapple for the first time this 2026/27 season" and opened a limited number of founding sponsorships.
The sponsorship tiers show how big an operation is planned. There are two Platinum spots at $10,000, each with 20 feet of advertising on the rink walls and 50 guest passes or a four-hour semi-private session. There are four Gold spots at $5,000, each with a 10-foot wall sign and 25 rink passes. Sponsors' names also go on wristbands and seasonal marketing, and the post says sponsors will be seen "by every skater, family and visitor on Heritage Walk all winter."
So far, the Market District side has been where Thursday food trucks park. A rink would give that side a reason for people to come back all winter, the way The Green's recurring leagues and concerts do across the street. Market District also plans to bring back the monthly Crabapple Live mini-festival, co-sponsored by the city, next spring and summer.
